This print illustrates a traditional folkloric rhyme celebrating certain foodstuffs (once) found in the beautiful county of Sussex. It starts thus;
Of a score of good things found outside heaven,/ The land of Sussex was granted seven./ The choicest of those I often feel/ Is the oily, glutinous Pulborough eel,/ Though the Selsea cockle would be the best… &c
The Sussex Seven is printed in a strictly limited edition of 25. It is printed in 3 colours on 300 gsm Heritage paper and measures 30 cm wide by 42 cm high (A3, a standard frame size!).
